WHAT ARE THE AKATSUKI RINGS ?
Akatsuki rings are very important jewels that are used to show the allegiance of their owners to the organization Akatsuki. Each Akatsuki member once recruited receives a unique ring that is decorated with a kanji (symbol) and a distinct color.
Receiving an Akatsuki ring is a very sensitive gift because once put on, the Akatsuki Ring cannot be removed. Orochimaru, who was once part of this organization had to cut off his arm in order to not be bound to it anymore.
We also suppose that they are necessary for the extraction of the Bijuus, that they possess certain powers but also that their bearing is essential to the cohesion of the group.
HOW MANY AKATSUKI RINGS ARE THERE
In total, there are 10 different Akatsuki members rings, each one with its own symbol, it’s own color and it’s own position to wear on the hand.
ALL AKATSUKI RINGS MEANING
All Akatsuki ring symbols are Japanese Kanjis. For 8 members, these kanjis are related to the divinities of Chinese mythology: Seiryu, Byakko, Suzaku, Genbu, Kuchin, Nanju, Hokuto, Santai, and Gyokuno.
Each one of these divinities is represented in a different way and can be related to the different members of the Akatsuki except the chief; indeed, his kanji is unrelated to these Chinese gods as it is translated as “REI”. This term is ambivalent: on one side it can mean “spirit” and on the other side, it is also defined by the number zero.

ITACHI RING MEANING
Itachi’s ring is red with the Japanese kanji 朱 (lit. “Shu”) which means “Vermillon” in English. This Itachi Akatsuki Ring must be worn on the right ring finger.
Itachi joined the Akatsuki and received his ring from the hand of Tobi after he helped him kill all members of his clan. Itachi’s first partner was Jūzō Biwa, jōnin from Kirigakure and a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.
After Jūzō’s death, Itachi started traveling with another Hidden Mist Missing-nin, Kisame Hoshigaki, with who he’ll make friends very quickly.
PAIN RING MEANING
Pain’s Akatsuki ring is blue or yellow with the Japanese kanji 零 (lit. “Rei”) which means “Zero” in English. Also, Pain wears his ring on the right thumb.
Pain (Pein) was the leader of the Akatsuki clan and was in fact Yahiko’s dead body controlled at distance by Nagato. Pein is also one of the Six pains that Nagato controls with his Rinnegan.
SASORI RING MEANING
Sasori’s ring is purple with the Japanese kanji 玉 (lit. “Gyoku”) which means “jewel” and “ball” in English. The right place to wear the Sasori Akatsuki ring is on the left thumb.
Sasori of the red sand was a Missing-nin from Sunagakure and has been recruited by Konan after he just did destroy another land alone by himself. Sasori was one of th most talented puppet masters but died fighting Sakura and his grandmother Chiyo.
DEIDARA RING MEANING
Deidara’s Ring is blue with the Japanese Kanji 青 (lit. “ao” and “shō”) which means “Blue” and “Green” in English and must be worn on the right index finger.
Deidara was a Missing-nin from Iwagakure (Village Hidden in the stone) and has been recruited by Itachi and Kisame after he almost blew himself because of Itachi’s Genjutsu.
Deidara was alsoo a user of the Bakuton, the art of creating explosions, and died fighting Sasuke Uchiha while teaming up with Tobi at the time.
KISAME RING MEANING
Kisame’s ring is yellow with the Japanese kanji 南 (lit. “Nan”) which means “south” in English. You must wear the Kisame Akatsuki ring on the left ring finger.
Kisame was recruited by Pain (Pein) to form a team with Itachi Uchiha after Jūzō Biwa died while trying to capture the Yondaime Mizukage. Kisame was one of the seven Hidden Mist swordsmen and possesses one of the best swords of the Naruto series, Samehada.
KONAN RING MEANING
Konan’s ring is white where is inscribed the Japanese kanji 白 (lit. “Byaku”) which means “white” in English. Konan Akatsuki ring is originally worn on the right middle finger.
Konan was a powerful Kunoichi and one of the former leaders of the Akatsuki Clan with Yahiko and Nagato. They met during the war and created together the Akatsuki to bring peace to the world.
KAKUZU RING MEANING
Kakuzu’s ring is blue with the Japanese kanji 北 (lit. “Hoku”) which means “north” in English. Kakuzu Akatsuki ring used to be worn by his owner on the left middle finger.
Kakuzu was an immortal shinobi and a mercenary that had a deep taste for money. He was recruited by Pain (Pein) himself with the help of Zetsu and died while fighting Kakashi and other Hidden Leaf Ninjas.
HIDAN RING MEANING
Hidan’s ring is green with the Japanese kanji 三 (lit. “San”) which means “three” in English. To wear a Hidan Akatsuki ring properly, she must be on the left index finger.
Hidan was, like Kakuzu, an immortal Ninja who belonged to the Jashin cult. Hidan was recruited by Kakuzu with the help of Itachi and Konan and ended buried alive after losing a fight against Shikamaru.
OROCHIMARU RING MEANING
Orochimaru’s ring is red with the Japanese kanji 空 (lit. “Kū”) which means “sky” and “void” in English. The powerful Sanin used to wear his Orochimaru Akatsuki ring on the left little finger.
Orochimaru decided from himself to join the Akatsuki and fought for his recruitment against Sasori and Pain (Pein). His only goal was to use the Akatsuki to continue his studies to learn always more powerful Jutsus.
ZETSU RING MEANING
Zetsu’s ring can be yellow or red and has the Japanese kanji 亥 (lit. “Gai”) which means “boar” in English. Zetsu used to wear his ring on his right little finger.
Zetsu was a mysterious ninja and the right hand of Obito and Madara. His body is composed of two entities, Black Zetsu and White Zetsu.
